Garden Events for April 2012

By no means is this all-inclusive, but there are some garden events around SF that I got wind of that are of personal interest to me…

Incredible Edibles in Containers | April 7th+8th

Saturday+Sunday, April 7th+8th| 11am-12pm | Free Talk + Demo

Flora Grubb Gardens | Link to Events Page

Johanna Silver of Sunset Magazine will be presenting Sunset‘s newest Western Garden Book and talking about growing food in containers. Perfect for city gardening! No need to RSVP, just show up early if you want seating and/or a cup of Ritual Coffee. Oh! And there’s a new food joint in the ‘hood! Across the street in a formerly vacant lot has popped up the brick-oven pizza trailer All Good Pizza. Be sure to check them out – they’ll be serving up slices, salads, panini, and Strauss Organic soft serve ice cream!

Private Lives Seminar + Tour | April 12th+13th

Thursday, April 12th | 9am-5pm | Seminar

Friday, April 13th | 8am-630pm | Tour

On Thursday at the Golden Gate Club in the Presidio, the Garden Conservancy presents a full day of programs discussing design in American gardens from the nineteenth century through today. On Friday, there is a tour of gardens in the North Bay, by way of tour bus. They are billing it as the Garden Tour of the Century! Be sure to register online.

Super Succulent Moving Sale | April 14th

Saturday, April 14th | 9am-5pm | Garden Plant Moving Sale

1344 La Playa Street | FOF Post with Pix

My friends Megan and Matti over at Far Out Flora are moving! 😦 After five years in the City, transforming their Outer Sunset garden into a succulent haven, they are deciding to raise a family and return home to Madison. Not wanting their collection to go to pot, and needing to raise moving funds, they are ripping out the garden and selling off their plants! I’ll be sad to see their posts from the beach come to an end, but look forward to what they write about from the Midwest!

Incredible Edibles | April 14th+15th

Saturday+Sunday, April 14th+15th| 11am-12pm | Free Talk + Demo

Flora Grubb Gardens | Link to Events Page

Clarke de Mornay of Flora Grubb’s team will be talking veggies and growing your own food in a city garden. He has lots of experience gardening all over SF and will be able to answer all your questions. Again, no RSVP needed.
